You thought you knew everything there is to know about Kanye West? Well, maybe not. Before the Grammys, the fame, and North West, Kanye predicted his future in a 2002 interview just by explaining the meaning behind his forearm tattoo — which contains a list of songs he worked on early in his career.
‘Ye calls the tattoo “the scroll of my life,” and goes on to point out songs that helped propel him to success as a producer, including “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” and “Never Change.”
He even talks to North, long before she was born: “When my family is in a million dollar home, and the look back, they say, ‘Dad, why I can’t get no tattoos? Why you got that tattoo?’ I’ll be like, ‘Look, this tattoo is the reason why we here. Why we right here, now.’”
While Yeezus certainly has changed since 2002, it’s safe to say the same confidence and notion of believing in himself back then is still present today.
