Cape Town - Four men died when two cars collided on the R43 at the Weltevrede turn-off in the direction of Tulbagh on Sunday, Western Cape paramedics said.
"It is understood two cars collided head on and one of the vehicles, with three male occupants, caught alight," ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.
"ER24 and other services arrived on scene and found the vehicles on the road."
Fire and rescue services extinguished the fire but there was nothing paramedics could do for the men in the burnt vehicle.
"Another person, a man believed to be between the ages of 50 to 60, in the other vehicle also died," she said.
"He sustained multiple injuries."
The cause of the collision was unknown.
Police were investigating.
