The Edo State Government on Wednesday said it had uncovered plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to clone the voice of the state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which would then be used to send out messages in support of President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media Affairs) to the Governor, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, the state government urged the people of the state and across the country to ignore such message because the governor was solidly behind the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), and other candidates of the party.
According to the statement, “It has just come to the attention of government and the APC in Edo State that in show of desperation, the PDP in the state has concluded plans to clone the voice of the Oshiomhole, by telling people and especially members of the APC to vote for President Jonathan.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically clear that Edo State is fully in support of Buhari,. The Comrade Governor is unequivocal in his support for the candidature of Buhari and all the APC candidates in the state and across the country. The Comrade Governor believes very strongly that the election of Buhari on Saturday March 28, will breathe a new air in the leadership of the country.”
The statement continued: “The public is hereby informed to disregard and ignore any of such phony calls and text messages to suggest that the Comrade Governor is supporting Jonathan. Edo people have clearly resolved and spoken with one voice to vote for Buhari and other APC candidates on Saturday, March 28 and April 11. There is no going back on that resolution. The Comrade Governor is hereby calling on all voters to go out en masse and cast their votes for Buhari and all APC candidates in the state in order to effect the much needed change in the leadership of the country.”
