AKRON, Ohio — A man released from prison in November is headed back to the state penitentiary for throwing his girlfriend in front of a car in order to rob the driver.

Jeremy Proctor, 35, pleaded guilty Thursday to robbery. Summit County Common Pleas Judge Tom Parker sentenced him to five years in prison.
Proctor's girlfriend, Maria Mathieu, 30, of Akron, also pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison. Both were set for trial on Thursday.
They are also ordered to pay the man $1,158 in restitution.
Proctor pushed Mathieu in front of a 26-year-old man's car about 11:20 p.m. Jan. 22 on West York Street.
The man slammed on his brakes and Mathieu got into the man's car and demanded $5 for hitting her, Akron police reports say.
The man pulled out his wallet and said he had no money. Proctor got into the backseat of the man's car and put his hand over the man's mouth. The man grabbed his keys and got out of the car. Proctor followed.
Proctor punched the man and knocked him to the ground.
The couple rummaged through the man's pockets and his wallet. They stole $280 and an iPod.
Proctor has been convicted of 41 crimes since 1998, including dozens of arrests on misdemeanor charges and several felony convictions that resulted in jail time on various charges including carjacking, burglary, robbery and domestic violence, according to court records.
He was released from prison on Nov. 1 after serving two years for violating the terms of his probation on a second-degree felonious assault conviction. In that 2012 case, Proctor punched a man because he thought the man snitched to police.
His most recent arrest marks the third crime he was accused of committing since between released from prison.
Mathieu spent six months in prison after pleading guilty to being caught with more than $5,000 worth of stolen jewelry in Cuyahoga Falls in 2013.
